Two More Days in Nelson

After three beautiful days backpacking in Abel Tasman National Park, we returned to Sierra and Kyle's home in Nelson for two more days before before moving on to our next adventure. That's not to say that our two days in Nelson were not adventurous! With Nelson as our hub, during those two days we enjoyed local activities, visited Cable Bay and Kateriteri, went skydiving and sailing. It was a busy few days!

Enjoying Nelson

We took it easy our first night back from Abel Tasman National Park with a friendly game of Rummikub. The following morning we went to the Nelson Farmer's Market where we found all kinds of great food, much of which sustained us through the coming days as we caught up on laundry and packed for our next trip. We especially enjoyed the tofu bahn mi sandwiches Sierra and Kyle prepared for dinner that night.

Relaxing at Cable Bay

After a morning at the Farmer's Market, we enjoyed an afternoon relaxing at nearby Cable Bay snacking on fresh fruits and cheese from the market. But, relaxing doesn't last long with Sierra and Kyle. The following day was full of adventure!

Visiting Kaiteriteri

We all piled in the Bongo Sunday morning and headed for Kaiteriteri. We dropped off Mary Kay and Kyle to enjoy a morning of paddleboarding from Kaiteriteri Beach. While they were paddleboarding, Sierra and I went to Motueka for our scheduled skydiving adventure. We rejoined Mary Kay and Kyle in Kaiteriteri after skydiving to celebrate with real fruit ice cream and a competitive game of mini golf.

Skydiving near Abel Tasman

Skydiving was one of the highlights of my trip with many photos and a dedicated blog post that you can access by clicking on the photo below.

Sailing at Nelson Yacht Club

Just in case paddleboarding, skydiving, and mini golf weren't enough activities for one day, we squeezed in a quick sail around Nelson Harbor that evening... with Sierra and Kyle as our captains! They have been taking sailing lessons at the Nelson Yacht Club and did a great job tacking and jibing while Mary Kay and I ducked under the sails, moving from one side to the other as instructed.

We ended our adventurous day in Nelson with delicious pizza from La Farina and prepared to hit the road the following morning.
