Tom and I enjoyed 6 days in Sierra Vista visiting friends and experiencing the surrounding area.
Boondocking in Sierra Vista
Our friends, Bill and Beth, welcomed us into their home and their family. We boondocked in their driveway but enjoyed the luxury of long showers and laundry in their beautiful home. It was a long holiday weekend which started on Thursday with the unofficial pre-party as Bill’s friends and family trickled into town. The official party was Friday night at Tombstone Brewing West End. It was standing room only with friends, family, and colleagues honoring Bill’s 42 years of service to the US Army. The post party continued at their home for several more days as they shared their Southern Arizona lifestyle with us.
Visiting Tombstone
While boondocking in Sierra Vista, Tom and I joined Bill and his family for an afternoon in nearby Tombstone. We started with window shopping on historic Allen Street before stepping into Big Nose Kate’s Saloon for snacks and drinks. While enjoying the live music, we were invited to sit on the piano for an old-fashioned photo shoot.
Off-roading over Montezuma pass
After two days in bars and breweries, we were all ready for an outdoor experience. Nearby Montezuma Pass provided the perfect opportunity. We all piled in the off-road vehicles and drove to the top of Montezuma Pass where we enjoyed beautiful views in every direction. We continued our drive down the other side to the Mexican border before returning back over the pass.
