Tom and I had so much fun in Tombstone during our two previous day visits (once on this road trip and once during our South Padre Island road trip two years ago) that we decided to return for more than an afternoon.

Boondocking in Tombstone

We boondocked at a great Harvest Host site for two nights. RV Parking and Harvest Hosts at 3rd and Survey is located, as you might have guessed, at the intersection of 3rd Street and Survey Street. It’s a great location, just a few blocks from the heart of Tombstone. Guests can park by the shop building, with access to electricity, for a fee. Or, if electricity is unnecessary, guests can boondock in one of the many Harvest Host sites for a donation that supports local schools and animal shelters.

Tom and I chose a wonderful boondock site at the end of the dirt parking lot with open views of the desert and sunset. We even woke one morning with a small herd of deer out our window.

Exploring Tombstone

While boondocking in Tombstone, Tom and I walked the streets admiring the historic buildings and eventually made our way through the shops for more than window shopping. I found a pair of boots that I just HAD to have. They were on sale so how could I resist?!? Tom enjoyed whiskey tasting at the local distillery as much as I enjoyed boot shopping. We both enjoyed a gunfight reenactment at the Oriental Hotel and, of course, drinks at Big Nose Kates. The Wild West photos never get old!
