Exploring Cattail Cove State Park

While boondocking near Quartzsite, Tom and I took a day-trip to Cattail Cove State Park along the Colorado River near Lake Havasu. We’d both heard about Lake Havasu for years but had never been there. It was well worth the drive and we didn’t even make it as far as Lake Havasu.

We pulled into Cattail Cove State Park and were impressed with the beautiful facilities and hiking trails right on the Colorado River. There’s a beautiful RV park, small swim beach and even a dog park with swim beach. And the network of hiking trails offers beautiful views of the desert and the river. We hiked  3.3 miles from the state park to BLM land where we stopped for a break at Whyte’s Retreat. We returned through the dog park where we took another break before heading back to our campsite.
