After leaving home 18 days earlier, Tom and I reached Tucson, our primary destination for this trip.
We pulled into our campsite at the Tucson/Lazy Days RV Park. It's like a tropical oasis in the middle of the city. I lost count of how many small dog parks it has. But it doesn't matter because we quickly found the big one with the big dogs. And, Aly just as quickly found something nasty to roll in at the dog park. Fortunately, in addition to multiple dog parks, this KOA also as multiple dog washes. Aly was due for a bath anyway!
While Aly was making friends at the dog park, Tom and I were making friends across the RV Park. Our neighbors, from Illinois and Montana, are also staying for the month and immediately invited us to join their daily happy hours. We also met fellow truck camper people that were just passing through for a few days but I suspect we'll be seeing them again on future trips... perhaps in Alaska!
The RV sites at this KOA are surprisingly spacious, especially for a KOA. And, they're relatively private thanks to the many citrus trees planted throughout the grounds. All the fresh grapefruits, oranges, and lemons we could possibly want, picked right off the trees!
In between our many visits to the dog park and the happy hours, Tom and I have been enjoying awesome weather at the pool, playing pickleball, biking along the Tucson Loop trail, and visiting some of the many swap meets and gem shows. And in the words of Karen Carpenter, "We've only just begun!"
